Visitor: I
hear of that you have work in IT area more than ten
years, could you have a discussion of your sentiment?
Mr.Ding: Sure, but not only me, my
four colleagues who carved out with me all have worked
for more than ten years in IT area. I discovered that
this area is full of vital force、enthusiasm and challenges.
We accumulate comparative fortune, this fortune is
that we have deep comprehending of IT’s development
disciplinarian, and distinctly know where its opportunity
and risk are. Fortune like this makes good groundwork
for us to construct our culture、nail down our development
direction、strengthen our company and international
cooperation.
Visitor: Lately
chairman Jiang visited the USA, he quoted Confucius’
word” Men of honour are harmonious but different”,
for this whether you have asthetic mood and other
paraphrases?
Mr.Ding: Chairman Jiang quoted this
word from the point of the relation between China
and the USA, it’s elegant and has pertinence, so it
gets abroad identity. I have asthetic mood of classical
culture, like 《the Analects》, and I always read it.
Men of honour, according to Confucius’ original intention,
they are people who are cultivated and cultural, their
contrary are homuncule. And then, Confucius have another
word” homuncules are same but not harmonious”. Now
that you are ”man in honour”, you should have cultivation
and culture, and you should be tolerated、modest and
assorted, on big questions, you can form accordant
cognitions and hold comparatively self-governed personality
and interest. This is the meaning of “harmonious but
different”. Touching homuncules, they have no cultivation
or culture, and they stickle in some small interest.
Although they are consistent apparently, they are
not harmonious actually. So that “same but not harmonious
”. As an corporation, bringing up men in honour to
realize “harmonious” but allowing “different”, its
essential is the problem about corporation’s culture
construction.
Visitor: You
make a wonderful parlance. Well then, what is needed
for bringing up men in honour?
Mr.Ding: Corporation’s culture is
not barren lecture, it can help a corporation resolve
factual problems, like development goal、development
philosophy、development idea and service guide line、and
system regulations, and so on. Goal is a corporation’s
banner, management idea is the “kernal” of corporation’s
culture, falling on facts means that we should carry
out the spirit “take man-made as the root以人为本” , respect
and spirit up creation value of person with ability,
then men of honour have goals. The bylaw must accord
with practice, its operation quality should be strong;
finer “men of honour” also need to restrict factum.
I think that “men of honour” walk together firstly
because they identify with goals and ideas, the goals
and ideas become collective “belief”, and than they
can be “harmonious”. Namly in the same camp.
Visitor:There
is a parlance that says “corporation’s culture is
manager’s culture, his idea is corporation’s culture,
what’s your idea?”
Mr.Ding: There is a prejudice in
this parlance. We should admit that manager’s idea
has deciding infection to the corporation’s culture.
As a manager, if you can’t advance the ideas that
should be advanced by you, corporation’s culture can’t
be formed. The idea “create fortune for your enterprise
and value for your clients” is advanced by me, now
it has become the whole enterprise’s service antilogy.
But enterprise’s culture is absolutely not the manager’s
self culture. Or else what should men of honour do?
Where men of honour come from? The contents that deal
with enterprise’s goals always are advanced firstly
by me, maybe they are not skilled and need collectivity’s
discussion and research, than they will be integrated,
and they become collective purposes and goals. This
relates to the rule “collectivity perfect”. In addition,
from the angle of carrying out, it is the whole enterprise’s
culture, it reflects the whole enterprise’s cultural
diathesis. As to the material action, we request ourselves
do from little things.
Visitor:How
do you realize “harmonious but different” in your
management layer?
Mr.Ding: There are five core members
in our management layer, i.e. the person that carve
out together, are we “true men of honour”?
Visitor:Yes,
you are true men of honour.
Mr.Ding: One of us graduated from
Sjtu when he was 19. All of us have worked for morethan
ten years in IT area, passing by the ten years’ hammer-harden,
the five men of honour have copacity、anamnesis and
personality, especially that we have collective ideality、puraue
and faith. i.e. we have self-identitical value tropism,
blending ideas and consistent faith. Then on some
great problems, we can be harmonious that Confucius
said. But because we have different education and
work background, with the “harmonious” premise, we
can have respective differences.
Visitor: Do
you have no problems?
Mr.Ding: How can be no problems?
Visitor: Is
it the problem of bringing up men of honor?
Mr.Ding: That is it. It is difficult
to carry out the management layer’s idea to all employees.
An enterprise’s contribution is not only providing
revenue and resolve the problem of obtaining employment,
the more important contribution is bringing up person
with ability. The youth is the main force of IT industry,
they have long request to life and advantage, and
they are sick for politics. Our culture construction
should emphasize the education and training of them,
and make their personal request combine with the development
of the enterprise、society and country.
Visitor: An
enterprise’s culture is the enterprise’s “internal
work”, if it is well constructed, it can extend to
the enterprise’s circumstance. How do you deal with
the relation?
Mr. Ding: Because an enterprise’s
culture is a process with continual exploration、development
and consummation, when we break ground of our company,
we scull the enterprise’s culture upon how to advance
enterprise’ core competition, we claim that we should
refine enterprise’s internal work, and advance competition.
Being eager for quick success and instant benefit
is the exhibition of being lack of culture. We realized
that: in the more and more rational and standardize
market, the ultimate differences among enterprises
don’t rest with products, but rest with culture. Two
different enterprises realize “Men of honor are harmonious
but different”, its success lies on the harmony of
the two enterprises’ culture. When we carry on enterprises’
confederation and cooperation between enterprise and
school, we think a lot of the harmony of two different
cultures.
Visitor: Treating
of an enterprise’s environment, maybe it includes
even more extensive market conditions about governments
or international market?
Mr. Ding: It should be in this way.
We have been in Section Changning for 8 years, we
find that Section Changning is a sheet of earth full
of enthusiasm and hope. The guidance of Section Changning
Government concern the development of private management
corporation, they regularly hear our requests; when
we come up against difficulties, some branches, like
Science Committee, business association help us resolve
them heartily. We are very inspired, and we have deep
sensation to Changning. As for international market,
most of our self-exploitation software have independent
property right. This August, we apply for the export
authority of software self-support, and we sell our
software to the USA successfully. Now we think how
to bring our superiority into play to exploit international
market. We are considering applying for ISO9002 to
extend export. From the process of software’s cooperation
between China and foreign countries, we find that
the software design ideas in China don’t get behind
that in the USA, what we are short of is marketing
operation conditions.
Visitor: Is
there a philosophy principle in Confucius’s words?
Is there any value in historiography?
Mr.Ding: This question we should
ask Confucius. But then, I like reading some books
about philosophy, and I also like reading MaoZedong’s
《The Antinomy Theory矛盾论》and 《The Practice Theory实践论》,
from the philosophy point of “antinomy and unification对立统一”,
Confucius’ “men of honour are harmonious but different”
is likely to contain some philosophic theories. “Harmonious”
is unitive, “different” is opposite. Opposite things
are gathered into a system, then there will be an
antinomy. Difference is antinomy. Antinomies and competitions
advance development. As for the value in historiography,
I don’t dare to say. I like the history of Ming and
Qing.
